As the 2025-2026 FIRST season begins, Girls of Steel members have been busy preparing and strategizing for the challenges that await us this season. From the FTC kickoff to the start of the FLL Challenge, September was an exciting month for us!

FTC Kickoff

On September 6, 2025, Girls of Steel members met up to watch the annual kickoff video and game reveal for FTC. After being introduced to this year’s challenge, members broke down the game: analyzing rules, creating priorities, and testing prototypes. Different teams came up with diverse ideas and solutions, demonstrating everyone’s creativity—this season will surely be one to remember!

FLL Challenge

Alongside our FTC season, Girls of Steel members mentor students participating in the FLL Challenge, a robotics competition using legos suited for younger children. On September 13th, we welcomed the FLL participants and introduced them to the world of robotics. Students had the chance to experiment and problem solve with both the lego robots and the innovation project, helping boost confidence in our next generation of engineers.

Looking Forward

Girls of Steel FTC teams have been working tirelessly to create a competition-ready robot. Huge leaps of progress can already be seen across all teams as robots start to take shape. Similar advances are being made in the FLL teams, with students already brainstorming different attachments.

We cannot wait to see what the Decode season has in store for Girls of Steel!
